The CRAFT platform — including the Crew Forums, Academy and tools — is built on trust.
This Acceptable Use Policy sets out what’s expected of everyone who joins, so we can keep the space safe, supportive and focused on helping charities use data well.
By using CRAFT, you agree to follow the guidelines below.
1. Be Kind, Curious and Respectful
CRAFT is here for learning, support and honest conversation.
We ask everyone to:
- Treat others with respect
- Assume positive intent
- Challenge ideas, not people
- Welcome beginners and different levels of experience
- Keep the community warm, inclusive and encouraging
We will remove posts that are aggressive, personal, or designed to shame or undermine others.
2. Protect Confidential and Personal Data
Because many of us work with sensitive supporter information, we take data protection seriously.
Do not share:
- Supporter, donor or service-user data
- Internal organisational data that could identify individuals
- Live CRM screenshots containing personal information
- Confidential documents from your charity or employer
- Passwords, API keys or login details
If you need to describe a real scenario, anonymise it fully.
3. No Unlawful or Harmful Activity
Please do not use CRAFT to:
- Break any laws or regulations
- Upload malicious files or code
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems
- Disrupt or interfere with the platform or others
- Harass, intimidate or discriminate against anyone
Anything that puts the safety of the community or the platform at risk will be removed.
4. Keep Promotions Light and Relevant
CRAFT isn’t a sales space.
You’re welcome to:
- Recommend tools or services you use
- Share examples that genuinely help others
- Mention your own work when relevant to a conversation
But please avoid:
- Direct selling
- Cold outreach
- Spam
- Repetitive promotional posting
We’ll gently step in if something feels more like advertising than support.
5. Use the Tools Responsibly
For tools provided through the CRAFT Forge / Actually Data Analytics:
- Upload only data you have permission to use
- Never upload personal data without consent
- Follow your organisation’s internal data policies
- Understand that files are processed temporarily and not stored
- Use tool outputs appropriately within your role
If you’re unsure, ask — we’re happy to help.
6. Fair Use & Professional Conduct
CRAFT is designed to support individuals and charity teams in developing their skills, improving data quality and learning new approaches.
We welcome consultants and freelancers who want to contribute positively — many are valuable partners in the sector.
To keep access fair for everyone, we ask that:
- Tools are used responsibly and proportionately.
High-volume processing on behalf of multiple clients that significantly exceeds normal individual use may be restricted. - Consultants do not present CRAFT tools or outputs as proprietary work or products.
Using CRAFT as part of your workflow is fine; passing tool-generated results off as your own systems or software is not permitted. - Premium memberships are personal.
One subscription covers one user. It must not be used as a shared processing centre for multiple organisations. - Work undertaken for clients should be transparent.
If you use CRAFT tools in paid client work, you must ensure you have permission to upload that data and that the client understands how we process files.
We reserve the right to limit or suspend accounts where usage patterns indicate unfair exploitation of the platform or behaviour that undermines the spirit and intent of the service.
7. Keep Your Account Secure
To help protect your content and the wider community:
- Use a strong, unique password
- Don’t share your login with colleagues
- Log out on shared or public devices
- Let us know if you suspect unauthorised access
Your account is personal to you.
8. Respect Intellectual Property
When sharing resources, screenshots or training materials:
- Make sure you have the right to share them
- Credit the original source where appropriate
- Do not upload copyrighted or licensed content without permission
Anything that violates copyright law will be removed.
9. Follow Community Moderation
Our moderation approach is light, fair and human. We may:
- Edit or remove posts that break these guidelines
- Ask you to rephrase something
- Reach out privately if there’s an issue
- Limit posting or suspend accounts in serious or repeated cases
Our goal is always to keep the space healthy, not to punish people.
10. Report Concerns
If you spot something that feels unsafe, unkind or inappropriate, let us know at:
anthony@actuallydataanalytics.com
We review all concerns sensitively and in confidence.
11. Updates to This Policy
We may update this AUP as CRAFT grows.
Changes will be reflected on this page with a new version number and review date.
In Short:
Be supportive.
Be thoughtful.
Protect data.
Use the tools fairly.
Keep the space useful for everyone.
Thanks for helping make CRAFT a genuinely supportive, community-driven home for charity data folk.
