About CRAFT
What is CRAFT?
CRAFT is a community and learning space for people who work with data in charities. It brings together training, tools, forums and practical support all designed to make data feel less overwhelming and more useful.
Who is CRAFT for?
Anyone in a charity who touches data: database managers, fundraisers, analysts, CRM admins, digital teams, operations staff, and those who’ve “fallen into” data by accident. Beginners and seasoned pros are equally welcome.
Why does CRAFT exist?
Because most charity data teams are tiny, often just one person trying to juggle everything. CRAFT creates a place to learn together, ask questions, and save time by sharing knowledge across the sector.
Membership & Access
Do I need an account to use CRAFT?
You’ll need a free account to join the Crew Forums and access some basic content. Premium courses, tools and resources require a paid membership level.
What’s included in Free vs Foundation vs Premium membership?
- Free: Access to the Crew Forums, selected resources, community updates and basic training.
- Foundation: Includes the Free access as well as one to one support from our team at Actually Data and / or Actually Data Analytics
- Premium: Full Academy access, advanced tools, downloadable templates, deeper support and early access to new features.
Can I move between membership levels?
Yes — you can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time through your account dashboard.
Compliance, Privacy & Security
Is my data safe?
Yes. We take data protection seriously and use secure hosting, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and strict access controls. We also only collect what we need to run the platform.
Do you store files uploaded to tools like the Data Quality Checker?
No. Uploaded data is processed temporarily and then deleted immediately after the tool generates your results. Nothing is retained.
Are you GDPR compliant?
Yes. We follow UK GDPR and only process personal data for clear, lawful reasons: running your account, providing services, improving the platform, and keeping the community safe.
Do you share my data with anyone?
Your data is never sold. We only share information with trusted service providers who help run the site (hosting, membership systems, analytics), all under strict agreements.
Who can see my profile?
Your basic profile is visible only inside the CRAFT community. You control what information you publish and can edit or delete it at any time.
How can I request a copy of my data or ask for deletion?
Just contact us at anthony@actuallydataanalytics.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Forums & Community
What are the Crew Forums?
A warm, supportive space for charity data folk to ask questions, swap ideas and share learning. Think of it as the campfire at the centre of CRAFT.
How do I join the conversation?
Create a free account, introduce yourself in the “Start Here” section, and jump into any topic — no question is too small or silly.
Are the forums moderated?
Yes. We keep the space friendly and safe. Posts that include spam, personal attacks or sensitive supporter data will be removed.
Can I promote services or products?
Light sharing is fine when genuinely helpful, but direct sales posts aren’t permitted. We want the space to feel collaborative, not commercial.
Academy & Courses
What courses are available?
Our first course — How to Be a Great Database Manager — is now live. More will be added, covering data quality, segmentation, CRM essentials, governance, reporting and more.
Do I get a certificate?
Yes, for Premium courses. A downloadable certificate is generated once you complete all lessons and quizzes.
Can I track my progress?
Yes — the Academy remembers where you left off so you can learn in short bursts.
Tools & The Forge
What tools are available?
CRAFT includes micro-apps built by Actually Data Analytics. Examples:
- Data Quality Checker
- Gift Aid submission converter
New tools will be released through the Forge throughout the year. Please let us know if you have a requirement for a tool that you think could benefit the CREW.
Is there a cost for using the tools?
Some tools are free to all members; others require Premium access to cover hosting, development and security.
How do you handle my data in the apps?
Each tool has its own clear data protection note, but the golden rule stays the same:
Files are processed but not stored.

CRAFT is created by Actually Data and Actually Data Analytics — founded by Anthony Fawkes (Ant). We bring together consultancy, training and product development to help charities use data with confidence.

Is CRAFT a finished product?
