About

Across the charity sector, data professionals are often the unsung heroes. They power campaigns, measure impact and fix the messy bits that no one else sees. Yet they rarely have access to the sector-specific training, tools or community they deserve.

Why CRAFT Exists

Every charity leader we meet says the same thing: “We know our data could be working harder for us, but we don’t have the time, skills, or tools to make it happen.” It’s not that charities don’t care about data, far from it. Fundraisers, comms teams, and operations staff are surrounded by spreadsheets, dashboards, and systems every day.

The problem is that the tools and training available are often built for big corporates, not stretched charity teams where every penny counts.

CRAFT was born out of that frustration. Developed by the team at Actually Data Analytics, it’s a space where charity people can find practical, approachable, and affordable ways to do more with data.

It’s not a single product. It’s a collection of tools, training, and community that fit together like a workshop: pick up what you need, when you need it, and learn as you go.

The name CRAFT – Charity Reporting And Fundraising Toolkit – says a lot. It’s about skill, patience, and making something useful with the materials you already have. It’s also about pride, being able to say, “I built that, and it works.”

In our world, that means helping fundraisers pull reports in minutes, providing analysts with a single version of the truth, and enabling leaders to see the story behind the numbers without wading through noise.

At its heart, CRAFT is three things:

Forge

The tools and apps. Think of it as the workbench: data quality checks, gift aid helpers, dashboards, and other practical kit. All designed to slot into your existing systems without fuss.

Academy

The training and learning. Not endless theory, but bite-sized courses, templates, and workshops that help you build confidence and skills.

Crew

The community. A safe, supportive space for charity data folk to share what works, ask questions, and cheer each other on.

Together, they make a complete ecosystem. You don’t have to buy into everything at once. You can dip in, try out a tool, join a conversation, or take a course. But the real power comes when you use them together: tools that save you time, training that builds your confidence, and a crew that keeps you motivated.

CRAFT was created to change that by giving every data person a place to belong, learn and build the future of data in charities together. It’s why we can distil it all into one phrase:

Find your people. Hone your CRAFT.
